Flyplassthrillere

En flyplassthriller, eller airport bestseller som det kalles på engelsk, er bøker som passer perfekt på reise og som også selger i store antall internasjonalt. For at en bok skal få betegnelsen flyplassthriller, er det visse kriterier som må være til stede:

* Boken må være underholdende på en slik måte at den holder på konsentrasjonen din selv når det er mye støy rundt deg.
* Den må ha en oppbygning som gjør den vanskelig å legge fra seg, med andre ord en ekte sidevender.
* Den bør ikke være spesielt trist.
* En klassisk flyplassthriller har ingredienser som politietterforskning, seriemordere, drap og/eller konspirasjoner. I det siste har flere av forfatterne dessuten forsøkt å overgå hverandre med det ene bestialske drapet etter det andre.

Jeg leser mange sjangere, blant dem såkalte flyplassthrillere. Det er min "guilty pleasure". De er, som nevnt, underholdende i tillegg til at mange av dem er svært så amerikanske i sitt krimunivers. Du vet nøyaktig hva du får. Jeg liker å lese om FBI - agenter som jakter seriemordere ved hjelp av "profiling", og hvor sidene vendes i en rasende fart. Ofte har heltene i disse bøkene egne demoner å stri med ved siden av etterforskningen. Det er herlig forutsigbart, ikke spesielt originalt, men god tidtrøyte. 

Flyplassthrillere er dessuten perfekt sommerlesing, og i sommer har jeg tenkt å gjøre meg kjent med flere nye forfattere. Her er noen av bøkene jeg akkurat har bestilt (trykk på tittelen for link til blogganmeldelser):
